Each year hundreds of women from across the region gather for either of the two identical sessions of the Women’s Conference. They are inspired by the keynote addresses and enriched by worship and workshops on topics of current interest.
Mothers, daughters and granddaughters come together for a time of reunion and growth. Friendships that last a lifetime are made by women who would not have otherwise met.
Come and see for yourself.
Keynote Speaker : Rev. Fran Shelton
Fran threw her first stone into the Guadalupe River at age five when she came to meet her mom who was attending a Mo-Ranch retreat. Other stone-throw visits have provided reminders of the Holy Triune’s steadfast love that rivers through personal and corporate life creating meaning and possibilities worthy of praise. These successive and ever- expanding ripples mark signal moments in her life of faith and service to the church.
Fran grew up along dry creek beds and under the canopy of West Texas skies. She was reared in the Roman Catholic tradition. At age 12, she joined the Presbyterian Church of Fort Stockton where the combination of liturgy and supportive community were irresistible. The Tres Rios Presbytery Women of the Church gave her opportunities for leadership and in 1988 she served as an Enabler to the newly established Presbyterian Women.
She is a graduate of Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary (DMin, 2007 and MDiv, 1993). Congregations in Bryan, New Braunfels, and Dallas extended grace upon grace to Fran by generously giving their time and talents to serve the people of God. Listening to their personal stories prompted her to earn certificates in Spiritual Formation (2010) and Spiritual Direction (2012).
