“Every opportunity to strengthen the camp experience is worth the investment and a positive challenge. We know the life-changing impact camp offers and we will continue to meet and exceed these requirements. Our priority has always been the safety and growth of every camper, guest, and employee.”

-Tim Huchton, Mo-Ranch President and CEO

Prepared in compliance with House Bill 1/Senate Bill 1/Texas Health & Safety Code Chapters 141 and 762.

Mo's Purpose Statement:

Our purpose in providing this new site and information is to share our preparedness and proactiveness to protect campers, guests, our employees, and volunteers in the event of an emergency at Mo-Ranch. Our plan addresses mitigation, preparedness, response, accountability, communication, and reunification for a wide ranch of emergency situations. Our plan applies to all camp operations but very purposefully includes all of the people, programs, events we oversee.

While all licensed Texas camps meet required safety standards, Mo-Ranch has made significant investments beyond compliance—implementing advanced monitoring systems, redundant communication infrastructure, and a comprehensive, actively managed Emergency Action Plan designed specifically for our riverfront environment.

Year-Round Commitment to Safety

At Mo-Ranch, safety isn’t seasonal—it’s a year-round commitment. Our Safety Committee, made up of team members from every department, meets monthly to evaluate risks, strengthen communication, and proactively protect the people who make Mo-Ranch thrive.

Our Board has also reinforced this priority by expanding our strategic plan to include enhanced safety and preparedness initiatives, ensuring that safety remains at the forefront of everything we do.

Elevating Safety, Reducing Risk

Since July 2025, we’ve made significant investments in safety and infrastructure, including:

      • River Sentry Flood Warning System
      • Campus-wide PA system
      • Redundant internet service for reliable communication
      • Site-specific severe weather monitoring services (AccuWeather and Weather Guidance)
      • Generator backup systems for critical infrastructure stability
      • Fire alarm system installed in the Milk Barn
      • NOAA weather alert radios across campus

We are also proud to celebrate the completion of a major, multi-year effort: the new Hunt Volunteer Fire Department substation on our campus. This project, which began over three years ago, now provides rapid response capability with four firefighting apparatus dedicated to serving our area.

Looking ahead, an Upper Guadalupe River Authority (UGRA) river warning siren, in partnership with Kerr County, is expected to be operational by May 2026—adding another critical layer of early warning protection.

A Robust Emergency Action Plan

Our Emergency Action Plan (EAP) is a living document—regularly reviewed and strengthened by our leadership team and Safety Committee. This comprehensive 74-page plan outlines clear procedures for:

        •  Natural disasters
        •  Security concerns
        •  Utilities and service interruptions
        •  Health and medical emergencies
        •  Emergency evacuations
        •  Riverfront flooding
        • Missing persons

This level of detail ensures that our team is prepared to respond quickly, confidently, and effectively in any situation.

Stellar Staff Training

Our commitment to safety is only as strong as our people. Every Mo-Ranch staff member participates in annual Emergency Preparedness Training, with updates provided as needed throughout the year.

100% of our summer camp staff are CPR certified and undergo intensive safety training weeks before campers arrive. Each camp session also includes a full emergency drill within the first 24 hours, ensuring both staff and campers are ready and confident.

Summer Camp Accreditation

Decades of Credentials

Mo-Ranch Summer Camp is extremely proud to be accredited by the American Camp Association. The American Camp Association has been in existence for more than 90 years and “works to preserve, promote, and improve the camp experience.” To receive Accreditation, camps must meet up to 300 standards for health, safety and program quality. Mo-Ranch Day Camp is also inspected and licensed by the Texas Department of Health.
